Girl Wash Your Face Discussion Questions – Chapters 11-15

Below you will find the Girl Wash Your Face guide that we used in my adult small group. I hope you find this helpful for your Girl Wash Your Face book club or small group. If you have questions to add, please put them in the comments below and I will happily add them to this post. Also to note: you know your group! If a question doesn't hit home with you or your group, skip it! I also don't require everyone to answer every question, especially on the nights when we are a group of 10. However, I will pick on the quiet ones sometimes if I feel like they aren't being heard or would...

Girl Wash Your Face Discussion Questions – Chapters 1-5

My adult small group has been reading Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis for a few weeks (...months) now. When we started, I was stunned to find that there were no Girl Wash Your Face discussion questions. I scoured Pintrest, the internet, and Rachel Hollis' own website looking for discussion questions. One of my group members did have a discussion guide that she had received as an email sign up bonus from Rachel Hollis. But this guide is hard to find, and wasn't very useful for our group. Most of the questions felt like comprehension questions, and not questions that probed the group to...

its not about numbers blog post

It’s Not About Numbers

As a sister church to North Point Ministries, we hear numbers all the time at Browns Bridge. 55% of our roster is attending this Fall's retreat. Over 800 middle school students attended Frequency. 134 Leaders. 432 sixth graders. 6 outings. 10 students stopped coming. Only one kid showed up. Not only does the church freely provide these numbers to us, but we ask for them. Rejoice in them. Show them off to people we meet. And complain about them when they are low. For our church these numbers are ridiculous, and amazing. We get to reach, sometimes, an unprecedented number of kids. Our...

why do bad things happen

Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?

I got a text message from my lovely high school co-leader. She told me a tragic story about a friend who's family has suffered a tragedy and had just gotten news of another. Her question: Why do bad things happen to good people? How can God let this happen? Below was my response to her. I hope this helps you understand why. That this will allow you to lean on God, rather than pull away from Him. My response: You have to remember that we live in a world where sin is trying to wrestle the reigns from God's hands. Satan is active and real. And Satan is terrified of the good, God loving...

Blending Out Official Launch & Pick-the-Logo Poll

I started Blending Out about a year ago as a place to easily publish articles that were weighing on my heart. I put the website together a little haphazardly, but it served it's purpose. Earlier this Fall, I decided to do another tour of Transit, and start with a new group of 6th graders in the summer. I'm beyond excited to get to start with a group from the very beginning. To get to witness a whole new group of students grow up and transform from kids into young women. I have decided to develop the Blending Out website into a full blogging website. I want this to be a platform and...

Challenge: Read Proverbs 11 & Journal

This month we have been reading Proverbs, one chapter per day, or at least trying to. In service we have been talking about cause and effect. That the decisions you are making today will have an effect on your future self. Our current self has been hurt by things that our past self did. And we can't take that back. But we can make wiser choices now. The current you is shaping the future you. Are you doing the right things to create a future you that you are proud of? I'll repeat: Are you doing the right things to create a future you that you are proud of? I think that this is a hard...

Challenge: Share Some Beauty

The evidence of God is all around us. God's creation is beautiful and awesome. What a wildly wonderful world, God! You made it all, with Wisdom at your side, made earth overflow with your wonderful creations. Psalms 104: 24 (MSG) There are times when we look at nature in awe and wonder. We all experience nature differently. God created us each to be unique and to connect with Him in a unique way. The way you experience God will be unique to you, and the things that capture your imagination might be different then the things that your friends or parents find beautiful. The...
