The Search for Freedom: Week 3

We all want the freedom to make our own decisions, to be independent, to be truly free. When we are young we must submit to our parents. Your parents were put over you by God to love and protect you.

The more that you demonstrate to parents that you are capable of following rules, of being respectful, of following through; the more likely they are to give you what you want: more space.

When you break rules and fight back you get things taken from you. The very things that you want to have more freedom with are the things that disappear when you decide to do things your own way.

Freedom CAN be found within the rules. We are to set an example to the world, to show the world what God’s love looks like. Showing disrespect to our parents is the opposite of love.

Make God proud of you by being good citizens. Respect the authorities, whatever their level; they are God’s emissaries for keeping order. It is God’s will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of the fools who think you’re a danger to society. Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules. Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.
